The show is called King Lear and the jesters of Shakespeare are angry and is played by the theatre group t Barre land. The performance is an adaption of the play King Lear written by William Shakespeare. The play was written between 1603 and 1606 and later revised. It tells the story of King Lear who descends into madness after disposing of his estate between two of his three daughters based on their flattery, bringing tragic consequences for all. After the recovery of the monarch of England in 1660 the play was adapted many times because theatre makers didnt like the dark and depressing tone in the play. But after world war two the play was seen as one of Shakespeares greatest plays, and the role of King Lear was played by many great actors. The way that t Barre land performed this play is very different from how the play originally was intended. The most drastic change in the performance is that it wasnt performed as a tragedy but as a comedy. For this performance there was a new translation made by Bindervoet en Henkes. But not every part of that translation was actually performed. Very big parts texts were simply cut out and events were told in a different order. However, the show starts in a very classical way: there is a man welcoming the audience with lines like: Come and see! Ladies and gentleman! The wheel of fortune! Behold mankind! Come and see, the big pie-scene, the distribution of the world cake! In this way he tries to get the audience in the theatre just like this was done in the Globe theatre. This same man is later the prompter who sits on the stage in the same way as the prompter would do in the Shakespearian time. When the play is already started they find out that the prologue is gone so they continue because they have started anyway so its too late now for the prologue. In the rest of the performance the actors are running over the stage, throwing with water, correcting other actors and playing double roles. They play with the rules of theatre when they dont make any attempt to keep the illusion of theatre. They for instance show the audience what happens when they put on all the lights that are not used in their light plan. And then continue the play. The play is probably very hard to understand if you dont know the story already, because the actors are only telling the highlights and only refer to some parts.  This play is the most drastic adaption of a Shakespeare play that I have ever seen. They only use very little original lines and also the design of the play is very far from how it would be in a classic performance. But they also bring back some classic elements that are not used anymore in modern theatre like the role of the prompter. And I like the way they play with these elements. And although I think that they went too far in not telling the complete story of the play, cause people who dont know the story also didnt understand it from only this performance, they did manage to perform this play in a very entertaining and fun way.

Also they have caught on abroad with Asia showing particular interest in them as they look to grow into a more developed country, perhaps basing that growth on culture much like the British did.Also it has been looked at the different options available for afternoon teas and how different the pricing strategies are for different levels of establishments. Another thing that has been noticed was the sheer variety of teas offered in some places and also a multitude of different cak e and bread mixes as well as sandwich fillings that are available for someone to have with afternoon tea today. South Africas Black Consciousness Movement

The Black Consciousness Movement (BCM) was an influential student movement in the 1970s in Apartheid South Africa. The Black Consciousness Movement promoted a new identity and politics of racial solidarity  and became the voice and spirit of the anti-apartheid movement at a time when both the African National Congress and the Pan-Africanist Congress had been banned in the wake of the Sharpeville Massacre. The BCM reached its zenith in the Soweto Student Uprising of 1976  but declined quickly afterward. Rise of the Black Consciousness Movement The Black Consciousness Movement began in 1969 when African students walked out of the National Union of South African Students, which was multiracial but white-dominated, and founded the South African Students Organization (SASO). The SASO was an explicitly non-white organization open to students classified as African, Indian, or Coloured under Apartheid Law. It was to unify non-white students and provide a voice for their grievances, but the SASO spearheaded a movement that reached far beyond students. Three years later, in 1972, the leaders of this Black Consciousness Movement formed the Black People’s Convention (BPC) to reach out to and galvanize adults and non-students. Aims and Forerunners of the BCM Loosely speaking, the BCM aimed to unify and uplift non-white populations, but this meant excluding a previous ally, liberal anti-apartheid whites. As Steve Biko, the most prominent Black Consciousness leader, explained, when militant nationalists said that white people did not belong in South Africa, they meant that â€Å"we wanted to remove [the white man] from our table, strip the table of all trappings put on it by him, decorate it in true African style, settle down and then ask him to join us on our own terms if he liked.† The elements of Black pride and celebration of black culture linked the Black Consciousness Movement back to the writings of W. E. B. Du Bois, as well as the ideas of pan-Africanism and La Negritude movement. It also arose at the same time as the Black Power movement in the United States, and these movements inspired each other; Black Consciousness was both militant and avowedly non-violent. The Black Consciousness movement was also inspired by the success of the FRELIMO in Mozambique.   Soweto and the Afterlives of the BCM The exact connections between the Black Consciousness Movement and the Soweto Student Uprising are debated, but for the Apartheid government, the connections were clear enough. In the aftermath of Soweto, the Black People’s Convention and several other Black Consciousness movements were banned and their leadership arrested, many after being beaten and tortured, including Steve Biko who died in police custody.
